Consultation for EMDR Certification

Becoming EMDR certified offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your knowledge and showcase a higher level of expertise in EMDR therapy.

A complete list of requirements to become certified can be found on the EMDRIA website at emdria.org under Training and Certification. Among the requirements are 20 hours of consultation. Ten of those hours can be through group consultation, and the remaining ten need to be individual. These hours need to be done after the completion of basic training.

The consultation for certification differs slightly from the consultation needed for Part 1/Part 2 of EMDR Basic Training. You will continue to have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss cases, however the focus will shift more toward demonstrating your understanding of case conceptualization based on the AIP model as we progress through the process. There will be an agreement signed between consultant and consultee that specifies the requirements.

 Letter of Recommendation: You may receive consultation toward certification with as many consultants as you like; however, if you would like me to write a letter of recommendation, I do require at least six individual sessions so that I feel confident in your skill level. The letter of recommendation upon completion of the requirements is contingent on your ability to demonstrate proficiency in your practice of EMDR therapy.
